Remove the transmission (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/AUTOMATIC - 42RLE - REMOVAL), (Refer to 21 - TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/AUTOMATIC - 45RFE/545RFE - REMOVAL).Paint mark the flex plate hub to flex plate relation.Remove the 40 mm flex plate bolts (1) and flex plate (2).

Inspect flex plate (2) for damage.
